After introducing the Geo-location Database with 633 points regarding obstacles for wheelchair users earlier this year, in collaboration with Dubrovnik Tourist Board, tourist maps in Croatian and English are now available. These maps highlight hotels, wheelchair-accessible beaches, fully and partially accessible tourist locations, pharmacies, facilities for supporting individuals with disabilities, and obstacles. Each specific point of interest also offers additional information, including details about the type of access, the way to pass the obstacle, the possibilities of movement, as well as the content information. With this expansion of the database, tourist attractions are now included, enabling every visitor to access information that can aid in planning their visits to these locations in advance.
In this way, the existing spatial database has been enhanced – the web portal serving as a unified platform for displaying information about accessible, hard-to-reach or inaccessible locations. This includes an accessibility map that is available through a web application. The map showcases mapped locations within the City of Dubrovnik, providing information about the accessibility of public areas for wheelchair users and individuals with disabilities. It highlights obstacles such as curbs, stairs, slopes, with attached photos. You can find it at: www.accessible-dubrovnik-map.eu.
The database of wheelchair-accessible geo-locations was developed as part of the RAGUsa 2.0 project – capacity development of city associations, implemented by Dubrovnik-Neretva county Association of Technical Culture in collaboration with partners. The total project value amounts to 65,026.59 EUR / 489,942.86 HRK. The project received co-financing from the European Union through the European Social Fund under the call “Strengthening the Capacity of NGOs to respond to the needs of the local community” in the amount of 55,272.60 EUR / 416,451.43 HRK. The official conversion rate was applied: 1 EUR = 7.53450 HRK.
